In a report for AP, Jon Gambrell said that snow began falling Tuesday morning in South Africa. Gambrell said that by “mid-afternoon, officials recorded snowfall across every South African province except Limpopo, though a formal report from the region had yet to reach the South African Weather Service, agency spokeswoman Kenosi Machepa said.”
The snow was heavy that certain roads had to be closed. The snow covered rooftops in Johannesburg like a winter wonder land. Gambrell says that the South African Weather service reported only 22 days of snow in the last 103 years.
